I currently have a 2" spacer/shackle lift in my 2000 XJ and have just bought a set of 15x8 aluminum rims with 4" backspacing. Can I run 31x10.5's with this setup? Would I need to trim the fenders or do any other mods to make them fit and function ok? Any help is appreciated.

A 31 should fit fine.

If you flex it though I think you will have a bit of rubbing. Of course whether the tires will fit or not depends on how much your stock suspension has sagged. My 93 XJ can fit 30x9.5x15s stock with no rubbing. Others (on XJ forums) have complained that 30s rub on a stock rig. Most trail rigs run a 3-3.5" lift to clear 31"s.

Yeah the 31's rubbed quite a bit when I turned so I just took the stock flares off and cut roughly about 1.5" of the fenders off. I plan on going to a 3" lift after christmas so I don't wanna cut too much off and have huge gaping fender wells, the 1.5" I cut off seems to be enough.
