i have a 98 k1500 with a 5.7l that is giving me problems.when you start it up either cold or after it rains it runs really rough usually until it warms up.so far i replaced the pcv valve, plug wires, fuel filter, and cleaned the maf sensor.i also switched the distributor cap with another one even though it had no corrosion in it.everything seems to help but the next day it'll be back to running rough.it misses and runs so rough its not driveable unless it clears up when it warms up.i don't have the money to take it anywhere or to keep putting parts in it.theres a part that sits in a finned plate near the throttle body that arcs but i don't know what it is.it looks like a coil but i don't know.anyone know?or have any ideas to fix it?all ideas will be appreciated.i need help

Did you try changing the spark plugs? I had a similar problem and i put in new plugs, plug wires, distributor, distributor cap and roter and that solved it for me

Try the plugs, and the fuel filter.

Not exactly sure what you're looking at but sounds like coil. If it is arcing then it could be bad connection. Check connections espcially ground connection. Clean and make sure conn. is tight. If it still is arcing then you may need to change coil. I have seen this several times especially in wet conditions. You could also test this by taking a spray bottle with water and spraying a mist around coil and wires while engine is running. Look for arcing and that will usually lead to problem area.

I would also have to say change the spark plugs. If you have one thats fouled out then it will run like crap. If you have changed all the filters, dis.cap and wires, that would be your next move. If that doesnt clear it up, its probably the coil or alternator.

Also, I have had then run rough with a bad o2 sensor. Take it to a autozone or O rileies, They can check the computer for free along with your alternator and battery.

Good luck
