when removing my sway bars, do i need to use a jack to lift the vehicle (to releave pressure from the sway bars) or will that have the opposite effect. In that case do i just use a wrench and torx to remove the bottom bolt with my jeep sitting on flat ground????

i have a 99 cherokee and i removed my sway bar while the jeep was on the ground. i took off the bushings and brackets that the bushings were in and then took of the nut that held the sway bar onto the end links. this required a hammer or a well placed kick. i dont know it its the same in your case but i hope this helps. good luck.

Sitting on level ground is fine. Being level is the key.
