I have a skip in the 351 windsor in my truck.
Cylinder 4 is getting spark, but removing the plug
Wire makes no difference in the idle.
Removing any other plug wire causes a noticeable
Drop in engine speed.
Also the engine occasionally backfires when downshifting, enough to blow out the muffler twice in a years time.
I don't have a compression tester, should I remove the valve covers to inspect the rocker movement?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you changed that spark plug? Wire? Cap/rotor?
