I own a 2004 Chevrolet 2500HD that I have a couple of questions about. after reading your great mag for a couple of years I'm sure you can help me find the answers. My truck has a diesel engine so the front is healthier than normal but the first time I got in some sand I was suprised from all the shaking it did just to drive through it.Backing up was smoother than forwards. Is the front end shaking from the tires alternating as they spin or could there be somethimg else wrong. And why would my truck spool up faster in reverse vs forward? Could the gear ratio's be different. I dont put myself in spots to get stuck often but what do I need to do to get rid of the shaking so I can unleash the power and throw some dirt without shaking every tooth loose in my head.

"without shaking every tooth loose in my head"
Sorry to break the news, but never going to happen with that truck.
Big trucks and sand don't mix at all. What you were feeling was likely axle hop. I've been in a few HD trucks in the sand and off-road and since they are set up sooo stiff to handle the weight of towing and hauling that they just bounce around and give a relatively unpleasant ride.
