Hey guys im kinda new to this stuff, love wheelin but don't have my own outfitted rig yet. what i do have is a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with 93,000mi. i just want a good all around trail truck that looks good and gets the job done. not a mud swamper lol. Advice on lifts, tires, accesories, etc?? It is a tan v6 4.0L. Also what are the biggest tires i can put on it with a leveling kit?? Thanks a bunch! P.S. Love the magazine! P.S.S. Hey maybe you should just make it one of the magazines project trucks lol i noticed you don't have many small trucks youve done...hint hint haha.

Leveling kit? Um.. you can fit a 31 or 32, maybe a 33 with some trimming.
Look up our Project Ultimate Danger Ranger. We built a 97 Ranger a couple years ago.

You'd actually be a lot better off going to www.ranger-forums.com than to TRS.

4WOR Web Editor: You'd actually be a lot better off going to www.ranger-forums.com than to TRS.
Why is that? Looks like nothing but a forum there to me...
Don't get me wrong, forums are great (TRS obviously has one too), but I'm not sure I see anything resembling the great library of technical pages on pretty much anything imaginable like what www.therangerstation.com has.
Any time I've needed to know something for my truck, more often than not TRS has come through for me.

TRS is getting dated.
If you hop on to R-F and browse/search you can easily find loads more current up to date technical information on all years Ranger.
TRS is good if you want tech on pre '97 trucks, anything from the last 13 years of Ranger though is hard to come by.
I'm sure my opinion is skewed away from TRS because I own a late model truck. Don't get me wrong, it's a great site, as are RPS and was ORR too, I just like RF better.
And since this guy came here asking questions he's probably going to want to ask more, and that's where the superior forum of RF comes in.
Anyway...

Well I guess everyone has their particular favorite site...
I myself don't find the demand for registration to be able to VIEW anything as very inviting. TRS (along with Explorerforum.com too) has enough wealth of info that they shouldn't have to keep it locked away from the masses (and Google too).
LoneWolfRanger, I'd check out all of the following sites, and see which one fits your needs best.
www.therangerstation.com (Tech-orientated Ranger-Based Vehicle site, also has a store for lifts and other accessories) www.explorerforum.com (Explorers & Rangers being very close cousins) www.broncoii.org (has a TRS-like tech library also, albeit smaller) www.ranger-forums.com (suggestion from Mr. Web Editor here) www.pirate4x4.com (Ford section has quite a bit of Ranger suspension & axle swap tech for the harder-core user)

That is true.
"I myself don't find the demand for registration to be able to VIEW anything as very inviting."
Huh? You can view everything except for Off-Topic without being logged in on R-F.
Also add www.rangerpowersports.com to that list. They have a ton of information on engines, tuning, and swaps.

a buddy and me were given a 93 ranger with the v6. we left it bone stock except for a homemade snorkel, aussie lockers, and some tiny groundhawgs with the fronts on backwards, and that thing was a blast to drive. perfect for nearly everything but towing, parties, and hauling

I was clicking around checking out the site, and after about 3-4 clicks, I was brought to a page something to the effect of: "You have exceeded your allotted page views as a guest... If you would like to continue viewing Ranger Forums.com, please create an account, it's free blah blah blah". This was in one of the the General (suspension or something) forums.
