I just bought a 87 bronco that is running 3.50 gears in front and 4.11 gears in back. I"m going to swap the gears in back to 3.50 i was wondering how hard a job is that. Will i be able to use both axle's and just switch out the main gear in the middle of the differential or is this something I should take in the shop? Any help would be appreciated.

If you are running oversized tires at all, you'd be better off switching the front gears to 4.11 (4.09) instead of the rear to 3.50.
As for actually swapping the gears though, if you aren't familiar with it, definitely take it to a shop. It's a very intricate procedure that requires a number of special tools. The gears need to be carefully re-set up so they will have the correct tooth mesh pattern, otherwise they could end up failing in as little as 500 miles.
Hope that helps

If you have to ask, take it to a shop. But while you're there talk to the guys and maybe ask if you can watch as they set up your gears. You'll learn a lot that way.
And I agree with SFR. Keep the 4.11's, not the 3.50's.
