i just purchased my first jeep, its a 99 jeep tj sport, with a detroit locker in the rear and a 2-3 inch BDS susp. lift
I am new to the off roading socitey and have many questions.
1) i have a small lift and after putting one tire on a pritty good size log, found that my suspension didnt really flex as much as i thought it would. Do only certain lifts flex? does it have anything to do with wether it is a long arm lift or not? I really dont know. any input would help
2)I was told by the dealer that i have a mechanical detroit locker in the rear, and was wondering if that was the cause of an ocasional loud and jolting BANG that comes from the rear axle every now and then?

Welcome to the sport!
To answer your questions...
1) The BDS kit should flex pretty well, but being a 2" kit it won't flex as much as say a 4" kit or a long arm kit will. But it should still be pretty good. Post up some pics of it flexed out.
2) Yes. Detroit's are notorious for that, especially in short wheelbase Jeeps. Just learn to live with it. It may sound like your axle is going to explode, but trust me, it's not.

They have kits that are very easy to install. I know offroaddesign has them I don't know if they have them for jeeps but I never looked. www.offroaddesign.com If not at least you will know what they look like.

you can disconnect without them but its a pain in the @$$ to do. and not to mention if you live an an area that it snows and the roads get salted then rusted bolts on the end links will break. it happened to my cherokees when i was replacing them. its just a good thing that the new end links came with new nuts. also, most companies that sell lifts also sell the disconnects. and ive seen people fab up some disconnects. i will search for the forum that does this.
