I am trying to find someone whom may know if 2008 F350 rear springs will work with the 2005 F350 spring perches and mounts, if I simply move the front mounts forward by about 10 inches or so.  The 2008 F350 has much better ride quality over free way washboards and the claim is because the rear springs are 10 inches longer in front of the axle.  So I want to know if move the front spring mounts forward, with the springs fit in both mounting brackets as well as the axle perches. Also will the axle be positioned in the same place (i.e. is the length of the 2008 rear spring the same from the axle to the rear spring mount), and will the ride height be the same? I would like to know this before I purchase the springs and find out otherwise. Thanks!

OK, so thanks to: General Spring (Automotive Leaf Springs and Suspension Authority Since 1965!). It looks like the spring dimensions are identical in every respect except distance from center perch mount to front of spring.  08 and newer are 33 1/4 whereas 99 to 07s are 25 inches.   So it looks like the info in our favorite 4wheel magazine was a little incorrect....its not 10 inches of difference, but 8 1/4 inches :-).   All other dimensions are identical so all I got to do is move he front spring mount forward....so it looks like I'll be installing these in the next month or two.  I'll let you know that it worked and how it effects the ride quality.
Here's the link to General Spring if you want to know the dimensions of your springs....
