im wanting to do a SAS on my 93 z71. its got a driver side drop t-case and every swap i have seen has used a ford or dodge axle. i found a driver side drop 10 bolt 6 lug from an 89 k5. i dont want to buy new wheels like i would have to using an f250 axle so would this work?

I have to see this, FYI all K5's up to 91 (80's body) had a PASSENGER SIDE drop so I'd suggest cheaking it again, you can swap from the nuckels out onto a ford front axel to keep the GM 6 bolt wheels, if you have a Drivers side drop axel that someone had on a 89 they put it there and did the 6 lug conversion because it was not stock.  if you need any specifics please PM me.

my mistake. since the pickups were driver drop i was thinking the blazers were to and since they shared the same t-case. what would i have to do to swap knuckles? i have a chevy dana 44 that needs rebuilding i could use for parts till i can afford one tons(im in college and having to use the money from selling a 83 k20 to do this with so funds will be tight as far as axles for right now)

Yeah, a '89 K5 is still the older squared-off body style with a passengerside drop axle & t-case.

Best bet is a '76-'79 Ford F-150 D44 axle. You could use a '94-'01 Dodge 1500 axle too, although these do have some undesirable traits (most notably the CAD units and cartridge wheel bearings assemblies).

On the Ford axle you can easily swap the rotors for 6-lug ones if you don't want to swap wheels.

just seperate the nuckels brom the axel housing at the balljoint and swap all the parts from the balljoints out ouno a ford housing, you will end up using the ford inner and outer shafts but they will work with the chevy nuckel assembly and both ford and chevy use the same lockouts so that will not cause a issue.
