I had my first vehicle, a car, for 9 years. Then last week, I got my first 4x4, a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo. Good mileage for the year, and good price. I did a bunch of research on it before I bought it to make sure it was a good vehicle, and when I was convinced, I bought it. The first thing I noticed was that it had a brush bar, and nerf bars, which made it look tough. I had never had a truck before, so I was impressed. I bought it from a guy my dad works with. The deal just came out of nowhere. I have never really anticipated entering the 4x4 world, so I'm being baptized as we speak.

Almost before I could even drive it home, it inspired me to imagine remote camping locations and dense forests in the Northwest, where I've always wanted to go. So I started googling off roading and almost immediately I noticed lots of XJs, TJs, other Jeeps, etc., Blazers, and a fair amount of Toyota trucks and 4Runners. But I didn't see hardly any Isuzu Rodeos. I saw a couple Troopers, but that was it.

I noticed a topic around here that said that Rodeos aren't powerful enough for lift kits. So I compared the Rodeo engine sizes to those of Toyota, and found that Toyota has only slightly bigger engines, but I've seen quite a bit of lifted 4Runners with huge tires.

So I guess my question is are Rodeos just not very capable? Why does it seem like there are more badass 4Runners than there are Rodeos? Sorry for my ignorant questions - I will learn more as I go. And I'm comparing the Rodeo to the 4Runner because they're both Japanese.

Thanks

That is a very good question. I have owned a 95 4runner and new project a t100 and they are cool but I like the looks of the rodeo but never noticed any lifted ones. Just figured there were not that many of them in my area to start with. I knew a guy that had an amigo and it was fun and fairly capable from the factory. Nothing crazy but functional as a weekend trail toy. Good luck and welcome to off roading,it's awesome.

i live in Mass and i dont see very many rodeos lifted. my ex girlfriends mother had one it it was very good in the sand and it was stock. also, that same rodeo got me home in a really bad blizzard. like a foot or more on the highways and even more on the side roads. anyway, my guess is there really isnt a calling in the after market for rodeo lift kits. keep searching. im sure someone out there has lifted one. and i welcome you to this hobby ase well. i was hoooked on fourwheeling when my (now my wifes) stock s10 crew cab climbed a crazy sand hill. good luck with your search. you came to the right place.
