Low pinion Dana 30 driveline question

Ok so I know that the preffered Dana 30 is the one out of 98/99 XJ's due to the high pinion. However mine is a 2000, so I have the low pinion and the only way I would change it is if I go up to a dana 44 which I don't have the money for.
So my question is, how do I make my low pinion dana 30 work well with a 4.5" lift and avoid a SYE/CV? Rusty's sells extended yokes and the claim is that thay will eliminate the need for a SYE/CV with many lifts, my idea was to use an extended yoke and their 1" drop cross member with their 4.5" lift, do you think this would work well? I wanna put 33's on the jeep (trim fenders to fit em) but I'm worried about conserving ride quality without breaking the bank so if it won't work well feel free to give me ideas as to what will. Also, will my stock dana 30 even work with 33's? I know they can have alot of problems when using bigger tires but I was told 33's SHOULD be ok.

well first of all, it kinda feels like im stalking you!!! LOL but back to business. on my 99 cherokee, i did a TJ flare modification that gave more clearance in the fender wells. this in combination with a 3in lift would fit 33s. therefore, not requiring a SYE or T case drop brackets. i will try to post a link on how to do the TJ flare modification. its very simple as long as your not afraid of cutting sheet metal. as for your stock axles holding up to 33s? lets just say i know a guy thats running 8.5in of lift, 36in tires and stock axles on his 98 cherokee sport. and he use to beet the **** out of it. he did not have lockers and that was the key to keep the serious breakage away.

Yeah I've noticed that all my posts are answered by you and the administrator lol. But you guys seem to know what you're talking about hence why I keep asking questions lol. Originally I planned on going with the 3" lift from rustys but after comparing prices I think their 4.5" lift is more of a deal in the long run and if I can avoid the SYE/CV then I'm deffinently getting it after x-mas. The only negative to the 4.5 is that my fenders are already cut so my 31's will look dinky, hence why I wanna go up to 33's which will require re-gearing but all that means is that I'll have to save just a bit longer before I do the lift, should be ready by spring/summer though.

this is wat i did to my cherokee. this is a 92, like it says. i did things a little bit differantly. i wouldnt bother with the expanding foam. im running 30s with my sagging springs and i could even go with 31s with no rubbing. so 3in lift and 33s would go nicely with this particular modification. i just figured keeping the center of gravity down would be better off. if i can get 33s on my cherokee with a 3in lift than thats the way its guna be. i have a daughter to drive around and want it to be safe. the 4.5 looks like a good deal for wat it comes with. you are going to go with the spring pack lift right?

Seems like a good idea, the pics wouldn't show up for me but I get the idea. I've already cut about an inch and a half off my fenders, I kept the splash guards up front, just zip tied them so they don't hang down. I was actually thinking about buying 2 sets of rear TJ flares and doing it that way, they almost look the same as stock fenders for later year XJ's but still give you the option to mount them wherever you want on the fenders.

try this. this is the album of some of the pics taken for wen it was done to my 99 cherokee. its a closer body style to your jeep i bet. you will have to take out your spare tire and rear inner panels to drill and bolt the rear flares. i personally think that using the full set of TJ flares looks better. its all a matter of preferance. ive seen pics of rear flares used on the front of the cherokees. i didnt like it too much. besides, the guy that runs the jeep owners site got a full set for free! if you do use the full set, and not 2 sets of rears, id go get the lights that go in the front flares. make sure they work as marker lights and blinkers. i think its required in some states.

Well it's gonna be awhile before I put flares on, I've gotta get a new tie rod and fix my pinion bearing as well as check out my rear brakes lol. But thanks for the link and info, I'll definently keep it in mind.

just was on ebay. found a set for $5 starting bid. 2 days left. another for $50. didnt catch the time remaining. the one for 5 are faded, but they make a paint called SEM. its for trim and such, makes them look like new. and the lights and light sockets will run ya about 35 bucks. good luck with the other stuff and your welcome. you can check out usajeepowners.com if you run into any trouble. the founder, Mastertek2000 is one sharp guy. he could trouble shot right over the forums.
