ive got a 98 chevy k1500 z71 rolling on 33" tires  im wanting to run a set of 36" military hummer tires, I've already bought the 16.5" wheels but without a lift i was wondering if the tires would clear with just trimming the front fenders 2-3 inches.  Im not worried much about flex because the only off roading i do is playing in mud holes but im going to keep this truck on the road also    someone let me know something soon before i buy the tires  buying them this weekend

how much space do you have between the fenders and the top of the tire and towards the front and how wide are the tires you have now compared to the ones you are buying

was thinking instead of butchering your rig have you looked at body lifts they are easy to do cheap and can normally be done with just to people and they go from anywere between 2-3 inches just a thought may give you the clearance you need o and if you do that you may need to lengthen you shifter rod at a welding shop normally only charge you like 10 20 buck other than that watch your electronics dont tear any cables you may need or it wont be cheap any more hears a site with your truck i like these guys cuss you can buy the gap pieces between the bumper and the body so you dont have this huge space in between

the military tires are only about an inch wider and with the 33s i had about 1.5" between the fenders and the tires wen straight and at full lock in each direction

ok what did you think about the body lift?     and if you dont want to spend the money then i think you should be able to clear them with cuting away some metal but its going to be real close when turning you may need to cut more away towards the bottom edges front and back in the front cuss as the tire turns the corner is going to go out farther than when the tire is strait but take your time on it and go only an inch or so at a time it will let you get used to cutting the metal so you know how it cuts and the best angles to do each spot that way once you get it were you want it the final result should need only a little sanding here and there and not so wavy seen alot of people mess it up so even if it takes a few weekends to do thats fine slow and correct is better than fast and messed up so let me know what ya choose and good luck hope it comes out like you wanted
