I got this Firebird when I was 18, second owner. I have been driving it for 34 years. It is 1 out of 684 HO 1968 Firebirds built, #1770 off the line. I have all the assembly papers including the maroney sticker. It is a factory A/C car, has the original deluxe interior in perfect original condition, original dash, original seats, original radio with the addition of a pretty darn good stereo, two amps and 2-12 inch subs in the trunk. The carpet is new old stock. The body is a perfect rust free Firebird.
In 1988, ten years after I got it I turned it into a 4X4. All the work was done by me. I painted it the brightest, shiniest silver I could find. You need sunglasses to look at it on a sunny day. It is not some piece of garbage stuffed on top of a 4X4 frame, it is on the original Firebird unibody and subframe, no junk hanging out from under it, no rough riding, no bump steer. The car is sprung to weight, even the original rear leaf springs. The brakes are upgraded to power assist disc in the front. Lean back in the seat, cross your arms and floor it. It will do 140 miles per hour like it is on rails.
It was a renagade for many years, out hunting, jumping ditches, roaring up and down rivers, rock crawling and hittin the dunes. I pulled my stock car to the races with it back in 89 90 and 91 gettin 18 mpg fully loaded. If I wanted to I could pull the subframe and convert it back to a 2 wheel drive in two days,,, NEVER GONNA HAPPEN! It is a true muscle car now. This is one to take a very close look at. The body, the floors and the frame are in excepional condition 'cause it has been 3 feet off the ground more than 1/2 it's life! This has made it easy to clean and maintain.
It has an International 345 torque monster engine out of a wheat truck,(why IH? super high quality iron. High nickle content block, never break down) bored .030, ported, polished, shaved heads, forged flat top pistons, sodium filled exaust valves, Mallory ignition and a Thermoquad 4bbl carb. It is also wired for a Holley 4bbl throttle body sittin on my tool box not yet installed. It has 2.5" dual exaust and 40 series flowmasters.  IH used the  Chrysler 727 Torque Flite transmission that bolts directly to the D-20 geardrive transfer case, dana 44 axles with track-lock in the front axle and Detroit true track lockers in the rear. 3.08 gears to fly down the highway at 21 MPG. I stuffed BF Goodrich 33X12.50s All Terrain Radial TA's onto American Racing Atlas polished wheels and bolted them on. I hooked up onboard air for the rear suspention.
We take it rock crawling all the time and out climb almost all the other guys. You can watch my rock crawling video, just type binderbird into a search box. I have seen super mods that can't follow me up that set of rocks. I have been to five car shows and won three of them. We always get crowd favorite.
This car is an exceptional vehicle, 100% performance, will do the baddest smokin tire doughnuts you might ever see, climb straight up, wow any crowd from the back hills and mud holes to the Vegas strip.
