I have a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4x4 with the 2.7 liter v6, single speed t-case and the 5 speed manual. I purchased this vehicle about one year ago and with the first heavy snowfall discovered an anoying problem, when trying to start out on a sippery hill or in deeper snow the traction control/electronic stability control system kicks in, applies the brakes to the spinning tires and stalls the engine. Turning off the traction control is useless as it automaticaly kicks back on when the speedometer reaches 20 mph and we all know how quick that happens when your tires spin in snow/mud. The models with the 2 speed t-case bypass the traction control system when shifted to low range, would I be able to do the same with a simple toggle or rocker switch? I obviously don't do any serious off roading in this vehicle but it does see some dirt, mud and mountain snow and it gets me to any hunting, fishing and camping spots I want to go while getting 24-25 mpg. Any input or thoughts?

I have the model with the 4-Mode switch you referred to, and that is the only way I've figured out how to get the TC to stay off. I've looked around for quite a while to no avail.

Hi,
This is my first post in this Forum. My question concerning traction control is that my GV 2009 doesn't have any. I think it is a very important safety item and also helps in some off road situations. I'd like to know if it is possible to buy it and install this system in my car. Does anybody have any idea or experience on that? Thanks!
