Changng Jeep Wrangler to IFS

I want to change my Jeep TJ Wrangler to IFS.  What are good vehicles to look to for donor parts?  (the front diff must be able to take an arb)  I am thinking that a H3 front diff or Tacoma might be a good place to start.  The other big issue is what spindles to use.  I will fabricate my own a-arms.

Any advice?

To go faster in the desert.  The Jeep does fine in the rocks, but it needs help at speed.  Also I think it would ride better in JV over the big rocks with IFS.  All the OEM's have switched over for a reason.  

try a dodge Dakota IFS since they are all owned and made by Chrysler anyway  

You are nuts. If you really want to do this your best bet is just to drop a Jeep body on a shortened IFS truck frame.

What, me nuts?  No way!

Most IFS trucks can't go where my wrangler does without breaking.  Don't want to curse the jeep with likelyt ford based parts.  My suspension is already better than what most "prerunner" guys use.

I think I will be able to maintain more speed and ride quality over the giant boulders in JV with IFS.  Sledge is kind of bumpy.  

whats your current suspension setup, like what shocks coils, links, travel...........but really fabbing up your own 4wd ifs.... wow my hats off to you  i would say the best diff would be out of a toyota taco or why not go bigger to a tundra?

Currently I have dual rate coilovers front and rear with airbumps.  Modified RE longarm with Poly Performance triangulated rear with truss.

It works very well, but it could always be better.

Why would you want IFS? IFS sucks!!!

Just wait a lttle while, I'm almost sure Chrysler will be putting IFS on the Wranglers in no time. They killed every thing else with it. But, there will always be someone to buy the junk they make now. Sorry if I sound rude, but a solid axle over IFS is the way to go! IFS has more moving parts, & more moving parts, means more stuff to break. I've owned a 4WD with IFS in the past, now I own a YJ with of course, the solid axle. Much better!!!!!!!  

hes not gonna put on a stock style ifs system cuz he knows how much it sucks he looking for the kind of ifs trophy trucks have but with 4wd, now thats sweet if you have the money for it

I have been working on a ISF 4x4 front for the go fast 4x4 guy for a long time. We have done are R&D on two Dakar race cars and worked well.  

^^Hey Mojave, do you want to design one of those IFS for a 2000 Dodge Dakota?

I do not race or jump my truck in the desert. We use it for moderate trails and mountain passes in Colorado and exploring other near by states. Would be sweet to continue to try more challenging trails. Increases in durability, wheel travel, and ride hight would be my priorities. There are no suspension upgrades available for my truck.  Most Dakota owners are going SAS. My email is mcavsnow@hotmail.com
