Need info for lift kits..

I have a 04 Chevy Slverado Z71 package with all the bells and whistles..My question is if i decide to put a 6 in suspension lift,Will need to buy a new drivshaft or will the stock shaft work?
Also if not then what is the highest lift can put without changing my drive shaft..
