Has anyone one done a sas on thes trucks yet?  Ive been everywhere on the net i can think of and cant find one. I have a 1999 F150 and a 1979 Bronco front axle with all the suspension and stearing links and all. I just want to read up on someone elses experiance with the swap.   Might be a good artical for the magazine since these trucks are getting more affordable and are readily avalible.

You know, I don't think I've ever seen this swap done. Have you checked out the F150 forums yet? I would be if it exists that is where these guys would hang out.

We're talking a leaf spring swap correct?

Basically what you'll have to do is remove the stock suspension, obviously, possibly cut out the stock cross members and coil buckets (is the F1 2 or 4wd?) and remove the stock rack and pinion steering.

From there you will need to fabricate some sort of front cross member and front and rear spring/shackle mounts.

You will also need a steering box that you can install, not sure what will work best but if you can get your hands on the Bronco box or possibly a Chevy box you'll be in good shape.

That's pretty much the basics of any SAS using leaf springs. Sorry I don't know where to find a story specifically on an F-150.

I think you are thinking my truck is newer than it is... it is a tortion sprung 4x4 and im looking to put the whole front suspention from  '79 Bronco which is coil sprung... i should be starting this next week(July 1st)... I will take a lot of pictures and will record what all will be needed for the swap.  Thankyou for the reply and advice, it is very appreciated.

I'm in the same boat my friend. Can't find any info either, but I have a 2003 f150 and plan on a sas soon. But first I gotta find a new trans for it. When I get to the swap, I'll be sure to document it well, along with photos. But if you get any info before that let me know, I need all I can get! Thanks
