How are four links suspensions for road use, pulling a trailer, etc?

I have a 76 F150 with some spring issues in the back.. the driver's side main was broke under the plate. I have a set of 3/4 ton springs I just picked up for nothing and could put on with a little work (I won't go into that). My brother said I should just do away with the leaf springs and fab up a four link. The idea sounds good and I've been going back and forth for the last four months trying to decide which way I want to go with it. I'm once again beginning to lean towards a four link setup. I'm wondering though just how well they work on a vehicle that will mainly see road use. The truck is more or less my wood hauler, heavy hauler, and get me around in the snow unit. It's still in pretty decent shape so I want to be able to get in it and drive around town and such whenever I get the urge. So my questions are... how well do they work with pulling trailers? I'm thinking nothing heavier than a small tractor or skid loader on a trailer. The trailer is my biggest concern... I'm thinking if I build it strong enough to handle what most people put them through it should be good. I'm just wanting to know anyone's experience with them pulling a load or having a decent load in the bed.
